COMPLEX MODELS & AUTHENTIC ASSESSMENTS

Complex Learning Models
THIS IS NOT THE END OF THE KISS PRINCIPLE.
This portfolio defines and applies several learning theories. Each learning theory describes how knowledge is absorbed and retained. Additionally, we need to look at complex learning models. It is important to note, a learning model is not a learning theory.
Complex learning models have several variables that are bundled together to accomplish learning objectives. A complex learning model is also called an authentic assessment.
In order for any assessment to be authentic (or true) it must create learning elements which will closely correlate to a learner's performance outside of the classroom.
Three authentic assessments are below along with examples.

PBL
Project-Based Learning (sometimes called Problem-Based Learning) is learning by solving a problem or building a project through discovery rather than learning by memorizing or focusing on abstractions.
